Afrormosia
Afrormosia (Pericopsis elata, sometimes also called assamela) is a noble, golden-brown hardwood species native to the tropical rainforests of West and Central Africa. The heartwood belongs to durability class I and is known for its exceptional hardness and timeless beauty.
The Pouleyn Group uses only the best selection of Afrormosia, purchased from producers who work with certified sustainable forest management. This guarantees top quality and responsible sourcing.
With its warm golden brown colour and distinctive flamed or lined structure, Afrormosia is ideal for wooden gates, windows and doors that will last for generations. Over the years, the colour ages naturally to an elegant silver-grey hue – a patina that only enhances its exclusive appearance.
Moabi
Moabi (Baillonella toxisperma) is a reddish-brown hardwood that grows in West and Central Africa. The tree can grow up to 50 metres high and produces wood with a very fine grain and uniform structure.
Pouleyn deliberately chooses Moabi for lacquered windows and doors: thanks to its stability and hardness, this wood remains perfectly smooth and low-maintenance. The result: exclusive exterior joinery that retains its class and appearance for a lifetime, with a minimum of maintenance.
Thermowood
In addition to tropical hardwood, Pouleyn also works with Thermowood. An ecological modification process, in which wood is heated in a low-oxygen environment, significantly increases both its durability and stability.
We use this low-maintenance material for our sectional doors, among other things. Thermowood is not only an ecological alternative, but also offers a warm appearance and long service life.
